Eye therapy takes many forms. There are many programs on the market that may
strengthen your eyesight and even sometimes help reduce your prescription. Sometimes
we hear stories of people who don’t need glasses after different forms
of eye therapy. Some of them seem to work sometimes.
I have such a fear of surgery and such a love of things done in as natural
a way as possible, especially medical treatments, that for years I’ve
tried the eye therapy route. I admit that the hardest thing is being regular
about doing whatever exercises are prescribed. It is work. It takes time. I
have not ever put in exactly the time and effort that was prescribed for me.
I do think I’ve managed to keep my eye prescriptions minimal through some
of the work I’ve done, but the results have never been totally satisfactory.
It wasn’t until lately that laser surgery instead of eye therapy began
to really appeal to me. It does seem like an easier alternative. It’s
certainly expensive, but not nearly as expensive as it once was. It is also
risky, I guess. I mean, I have a huge fear of someone cutting on my eye, no
matter how many times they’ve done it successfully!
But year after year, more and more people I know have eye surgery. One of my
exes actually had it done about 15 years ago. He says he has never regretted
it for a moment. He’s in his 50’s now and he says his eyesight is
still great. As I get closer to 50 myself, eye surgery does start to appeal
to me more. My eyes have needed glasses since I was 5. That’s a long time.
I don’t really know what life is like without either glasses or contacts
to correct my eyesight. It might be a good idea.
I’m going to talk to more people, do more research, but there is a chance
that at some point, I’ll elect to have eye surgery. We’ll see!
